Fluoride Proponents Never Actually Tested "the Real Thing"

Part of the difficulty when discussing water fluoridation is that many do not realize that the fluoride you find in drugs, for example, while harmful, is not quite as bad as what's being used for water fluoridation.  The fluoride added to your drinking water is not pharmaceutical grade.
It's a toxic industrial waste product.
Deepening the deception is the fact that none of the studies on fluoride actually used the far more toxic hydrofluorosilicic acid that is added to the water supply. Rather they use pharmaceutical grade fluoride, so the health hazards are likely FAR worse than any study has so far discerned. (Below quote from Jeff Green, National Director, Citizens for Safe Drinking Water) -
"So when someone uses the word fluoride, I believe we start with a deception from the very beginning," Green says. "… [T]here is almost a bragging by the promoters of fluoridation that you don't have to study it because they have studied fluoride over and over again, yet they have never looked at the actual product itself until just recently!
In 1998 to 2000, I was able to get a congressional investigation on fluoride.  At that particular time, the House Committee on Science allowed us to write some questions that would be sent out to various entities.  Originally it was to the EPA…  We asked them to send the scientific data they had on the silicofluorides.  They wrote back [saying they] couldn't find any [data] for chronic effects of the use of hydrofluorosilicic acid or the silicofluorides. 
They didn't have any at all.
Up until 2010, and now 2011, there have only been two studies that have dealt with the continued use of hydrofluorosilicic acid. 
[T]hey were able to finally confirm, through these toxicological studies, the very thing they had found through large epidemiological study—that there is a higher amount of lead that shows up in blood.  In the epidemiological study it was 400,000 children.  It showed that there was a tremendous increase... four times as much for Latinos, seven times as much for blacks, and a[n on average] doubling of the danger level of lead in children's blood, when hydrofluorosilicic acid was present in the water."
The importance of that was that it was also compared to having no fluoride added into the water and [pharmaceutical grade] sodium fluoride added into the water.  So there was really a difference between the specific products being placed in there.

Fluoride Increases Heavy Metal Accumulation in Your Body

These studies also showed that hydrofluorosilicic acid increases lead accumulation in bone, teeth, and other calcium-rich tissues. According to Green, the free fluoride ion actually acts as a transport of heavy metals, allowing them to enter into areas of your body they normally would not be able to go, such as into your brain.
"Industry prizes what we call fluoride compounds," Green says. "What's amazing is there is so much [information] out there that's never explained to the general public.  But [fluoride] is… the most aggressive seeker of another electron.  It's the most electromagnetically negatively charged element in the entire world.  It basically is the most interactive of all the elements… It will give up whatever it's with to be with something else…
So it's prized by industry because it actually disrupts molecular bonds… Industry also wants it because it creates tighter molecular bonds.  So Scotchgard, Stain Master, Gore-Tex, ski gear… These are all fluoride-type compounds as well because they actually make it a tighter molecular bond that is more impervious to penetration. 
… By the time you get to the enzyme activity, and knowing what it can do to disrupt enzyme activity, the effects are so widespread, it's just amazing... Once [people] learn the nature of fluoride, they would never want to put it in their water."

Vaccines and autism: a new scientific review

For all those who've declared the autism-vaccine debate over - a new scientific review begs to differ. It considers a host of peer-reviewed, published theories that show possible connections between vaccines and autism.
The article in the Journal of Immunotoxicology is entitled "Theoretical aspects of autism: Causes--A review." The author is Helen Ratajczak, surprisingly herself a former senior scientist at a pharmaceutical firm. Ratajczak did what nobody else apparently has bothered to do: she reviewed the body of published science since autism was first described in 1943. Not just one theory suggested by research such as the role of MMR shots, or the mercury preservative thimerosal; but all of them.

Ratajczak's article states, in part, that "Documented causes of autism include genetic mutations and/or deletions, viral infections, and encephalitis [brain damage] following vaccination [emphasis added]. Therefore, autism is the result of genetic defects and/or inflammation of the brain."


The article goes on to discuss many potential vaccine-related culprits, including the increasing number of vaccines given in a short period of time. "What I have published is highly concentrated on hypersensitivity, Ratajczak told us in an interview, "the body's immune system being thrown out of balance."

University of Pennsylvania's Dr. Brian Strom, who has served on Institute of Medicine panels advising the government on vaccine safety says the prevailing medical opinion is that vaccines are scientifically linked to encephalopathy (brain damage), but not scientifically linked to autism. As for Ratajczak's review, he told us he doesn't find it remarkable. "This is a review of theories. Science is based on facts. To draw conclusions on effects of an exposure on people, you need data on people. The data on people do not support that there is a relationship. As such, any speculation about an explanation for a (non-existing) relationship is irrelevant."

Ratajczak also looks at a factor that hasn't been widely discussed: human DNA contained in vaccines. That's right, human DNA. Ratajczak reports that about the same time vaccine makers took most thimerosal out of most vaccines (with the exception of flu shots which still widely contain thimerosal), they began making some vaccines using human tissue. Ratajczak says human tissue is currently used in 23 vaccines. She discusses the increase in autism incidences corresponding with the introduction of human DNA to MMR vaccine, and suggests the two could be linked. Ratajczak also says an additional increased spike in autism occurred in 1995 when chicken pox vaccine was grown in human fetal tissue.

Why could human DNA potentially cause brain damage? The way Ratajczak explained it to me: "Because it's human DNA and recipients are humans, there's homologous recombinaltion tiniker. That DNA is incorporated into the host DNA. Now it's changed, altered self and body kills it. Where is this most expressed? The neurons of the brain. Now you have body killing the brain cells and it's an ongoing inflammation. It doesn't stop, it continues through the life of that individual."

Dr. Strom said he was unaware that human DNA was contained in vaccines but told us, "It does not matter...Even if human DNA were then found in vaccines, it does not mean that they cause autism." Ratajczak agrees that nobody has proven DNA causes autism; but argues nobody has shown the opposite, and scientifically, the case is still open.

A number of independent scientists have said they've been subjected to orchestrated campaigns to discredit them when their research exposed vaccine safety issues, especially if it veered into the topic of autism. We asked Ratajczak how she came to research the controversial topic. She told us that for years while working in the pharmaceutical industry, she was restricted as to what she was allowed to publish. "I'm retired now," she told CBS News. "I can write what I want."

We wanted to see if the CDC wished to challenge Ratajczak's review, since many government officials and scientists have implied that theories linking vaccines to autism have been disproven, and Ratajczak states that research shows otherwise. CDC officials told us that "comprehensive review by CDC...would take quite a bit of time." In the meantime, CDC provided these links:

A recent CBS News Investigates article quotes a former senior scientist at a pharmaceutical firm who claims that human tissue is currently used in 23 vaccines; however, we adhere strictly to the vaccine package inserts from the FDA as our ingredient data source and cannot confirm nor deny this (CBS News) claim.
Where did the human protein and DNA come from?

There are three main sources of human protein in vaccines: (1) fetal cell lines, (2) human albumin derived from human blood and (3) human albumin genetically engineered from yeast. 

The human DNA in vaccines comes from the MRC-5 fetal cell line (see below).

Human Protein from Fetal Cell Lines
  • The MRC-5 cell line was developed in September 1966 from lung tissue taken from a 14 week fetus aborted for psychiatric reasons from a 27 year old physically healthy woman.
  • The rubella vaccine currently used in the U.S. and in most countries was developed after an American researcher at the Wistar Institute cultured rubella virus from a fetus aborted because the mother was infected with rubella.   • This article, while incomplete regarding the sources of human protein/DNA and the vaccines in which they are found, attempts to explain why some vaccines are grown in cell cultures that were originally obtained from human fetuses.
Genetically Engineered Human Albumin
  • Currently (as of April 2011), only the MMR vaccine contains genetically engineered human protein, which is produced under the brand name Recombumin and referred to as "recombinant human albumin" in the package insert.

This is a summary of information complied from public record and published peer reviewed journals on the history of fluoridation in the Netherlands. It explains how medical based science resulted in the termination of fluoridation in this Country, thanks largely to Dr. Hans Moolenburgh, a Medical Physician, Cancer Specialist, and Clinical Ecologist who with a team of medical doctors and medical researchers conclusively demonstrated that fluoridation of drinking water resulted in the population being subjected to low grade poisoning by fluoride with wide ranging medical side effects.
Hans C. Moolenburgh, M.D., graduated as a medical doctor from the University of Leyden in 1952. He was a general practitioner in the city of Haarlem in the Netherlands since April 1953. Apart from being a G.P., his main interests were clinical ecology and complementary forms of cancer treatment.

ADA and AMA already declared fluoride as a "protoplasmic poison" in their own journals back in 1936 and 1943---Are these the same "older" studies they cite as "scientific proof" that fluoride is "safe and effective?"


Question

Is the fluosilicic acid used in community water supplies by water fluoridation schemes as innocuous to human health as promoters make it out to be?

A fluorosilicic acid, ether of two silicon fluorides, is what's most commonly used as a water additive in North America and most fluoridating countries for the stated claim of reducing or preventing tooth decay.

This acid releases fluoride ions into the public water supply to a stated controlled value now at 0.7 ppm (or, 7 mg per liter, or, 7 mg per kg) concentration. The concentration may not remain at that value throughout the distribution system depending on circumstances. The ethics, morality and legal issues aside, this "concentration" does not allow for different amounts of water consumption in the individuals in the treated population, which can lead to overdoses. This also means that all foods and beverages prepared with tap water will contain a form of fluoride in them which adds to the toxic load. This way of treating the population also does not account for the health status, genetic makeup, pre-existing chemical sensitivities of individuals consuming such water, nutritional intake and any predispositions to illness considerations of the treated individuals.

Testing is only done for the Fluoride ion concentration, but not for hydrogen fluoride, none of the co-contaminants that come with the "fluoride," residual silicon fluoride, any the many compounds that may form due to recomplexing of the Fluoride ion with the chemicals used in water treatment, chlorine, chloramine, Ph balancers, Alum, and others, and any remaining organics in suspension.
It is a fact that the toxic "fluoride" industrial waste used may also contain but not limited to: fluorine, hydrogen fluoride, lead, arsenic, mercury, cadmium, chromium, phosphorus, iron, iodine, silver, plus uranium238, barium, radon, cobalt, radium, polonium and possibly others because it is derived from the mining processes used to extract the phosphate used in the super phosphate fertilizer industry, mostly from Florida but sometimes imported from China.

    In 1992, following unification of Germany the DVGW  (German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water) issued a professional statement on water fluoridation which highlighted the risk management, hazard analysis and public safety concerns regarding fluoridation of drinking water supplies. 

    Water fluoridation was practiced in the former GFR up to 1990. Upon unification the practice of artificial fluoridation was immediately terminated on health, ethical and environmental grounds in all regions throughout the former East Germany.

    The (current) statement by the DVGW was issued as a number of dental professionals raised concerns that by terminating fluoridation of drinking water the dental health of the population would deteriorate significantly.  Similar opinions have been raised by the Minister for Health in Ireland as justification for continuing with the policy of mandatory fluoridation of drinking water supplies. Ireland remains the last country in the EU to support the mandatory fluoridation of drinking water supplies.

    The DVGW is the oldest independent and unbiased technical and scientific Gas and Water Association in the World. The DVGW has 13,000 members, 400 employees and 3 affiliated research institutes and has been providing technical and scientific support for the German gas and water industry since 1859.  The DVGW work with the Federal Minister for Health and the Federal Environmental Agency in developing National guidelines for water management, water quality and risk management as well as ensuring the provision of safe drinking water supplies. 

    All the activities of the DVGW focus on safety, hygiene and environmental protection, taking efficiency and cost-effectiveness into consideration to ensure safe gas and water supplies at the highest international levels.

    These same principles of management were applied by the DVGW to the examination of fluoridation of drinking water.

    The following are direct quotes from the DVGW position statement on fluoridation of drinking water supplies:

    (1) “It is not the task of water supply companies to add substances to drinking water intended as prophylactics against illness not caused by drinking water.” 

    (2) “Caries is not the manifestation of fluoride deficiency, but is the result of a generally false nutrition and inefficient dental hygiene. Unwholesome habits resulting in caries are not eliminated by the fluoridation of drinking water; on the contrary, they are promoted.” 

    (3) “The suggested optimal fluoride concentration of 1 mg per litre is very close to the dose with which long term detrimental effects in people cannot be excluded. . . the limit value in drinking water cannot be justified in view of different habits and therefore differing consumption of drinking water and the uncontrolled intake of fluorides from other sources. The safety of a lifelong accumulation of fluoride in the human body as a result of increased intake is disputed in medical science throughout the world.”

    (4) “More than 99 per cent [of fluoride contained in drinking water] would be discharged with waste water directly into the environment. This additional fluoride emission into waters is unacceptable for ecological reasons.” 

    (5) “The consumer cannot avoid fluoridated drinking water made available by public water supply. This mandatory intake of fluoride violates the basic right to bodily freedom from injury . . . provided by the Basic Law of the Federal Republic of Germany.” 

    (6) “Fluoride intake for the prevention of caries is more effective with specific measures taken by the individual than by fluoridation of drinking water.” 

    (7) “An assessment of risks vs. benefits involving both the health aspects and ecological consequences justifies DVGW’s rejection of the fluoridation of drinking water.”

    What is however most interesting is that post-cessation of water fluoridation, contrary to the opinions of the dental profession warning of dire dental health consequences for the population, dental health among the population improved to the highest standards since before fluoridation began in 1959.[1]

    This occurred in spite of the fact that only natural water without added fluoride was available to all citizens.

    Further research[2] also documented that in contrast to the anticipated increase in dental caries following the cessation of water fluoridation, a different caries trend was observed with a significant fall in caries prevalence. This trend corresponded to the national caries decline and appeared to be a new population-wide phenomenon. This research provided further support to demonstrate that fluoridation of water is ineffective in preventing caries prevalence and may contribute to an increase in dental decay due to fluoridation of water. Similar experiences showing a significant improvement in dental health were observed in other countries that stopped fluoridation in particular Chile, Finland, the Netherlands, Japan and Sweden. Despite the overwhelming international evidence to the contrary, public health authorities in countries that continue to promote water fluoridation continue to make misinformed and inaccurate statements in support of this outdated and dangerous policy.

    One of the world’s foremost published pro-fluoridation experts teaches at the University of Iowa, yet he has declined to participate (in debate with Dr. Paul Connett). Dozens of local dentists have been made aware of this opportunity to publicly prove Connett wrong, but unfortunately none has yet stepped forward. Ironically, the tables are turning, as cities and counties that have the debate and cease fluoridation can be considered beacons for development as healthful, livable communities – similar to having amenities such as public transportation, farmers’ markets, biking trails, and biking road lanes. If the science does point to more harm than good, then why in the world would bureaucrats and politicians – who purportedly work on your behalf – continue business as usual, 60 years later, without a debate?

    In the 1940s and ’50s, print and TV ads depicted, of all things, doctors and professional athletes enjoying the soothing benefits of smoking cigarettes. One TV spot stated, “In a repeated national survey, doctors of all branches of medicine, doctors in all parts of the country, were asked, ‘What cigarette do you smoke, doctor?’ More doctors smoke Camels than any other cigarette” (RCReader.com/y/cigs).

    Of course, since then we’ve all wised up and realized the absurdity of the message that cigarettes are a healthy habit. Under the premise of healthful living, in 1952 the City of Davenport contracted with the Iowa Water Company to add fluoride to the public water supply (RCReader.com/y/agreement). Sixty years later, it’s time to wise up and realize the absurdity of this practice ... or at a minimum, with the benefit of scientific research, have a public debate about medicating the populace through the public water supply....     South Florida Holistic Dentistry Gives Reasons WHY Americans are Turning AGAINST Fluoride

    Fluoridation Across North AmericaO’Fallon, Missouri. With a population of just over 80,000, O’Fallon is the seventh largest town in Missouri. Earlier this year, citizen activists informed city employees of the potential dangers of water fluoridation. City officials responded with a reevaluation their fluoridation practice. Ultimately, the city decided to discontinue water fluoridation altogether. In the O’Fallon 2012 Annual Budget, officials happily report that the fiscal year saw a number of positive changes, one of which was the elimination of fluoride from public drinking water:

    “One such improvement is the elimination of the addition of fluoride to the potable water supplied by the Water Treatment Plant (WTP), [which has] saved the City $18,000 annually and reduced the hazard for operators in that they do not have to handle the dangerous chemical on a regular basis,” (ii).

    Rosetown, Saskatchewan. North of the United States, the Canadian community of Rosetown has voted to end water fluoridation after an incident at the town’s water treatment facility caused the fluoride-feed pump to burst. It is thought that the feed likely burst due to corrosion, and the community does not plan to repair the pipe. Instead, the community of approximately 2,300 will have access to clean, natural, fluoride-free drinking water.

    Lake View, Iowa. In Iowa, the community of Lake View has also decided to discontinue water fluoridation practices. While concerns for health and public safety have been the primary motivators for removing fluoride from water in other communities, the town of Lake View points to another reason: Cost. As a potentially toxic practice with little-to-no economic benefit, water fluoridation is a financial burden that many communities, like Lake View, simply cannot justify.

    Cassadaga, New York. Residents of the town of Cassadaga rallied in overwhelming numbers to oppose the retroactive fluoridation of the town’s water system. With more than 75% of residents saying “No” to fluoride, the town’s Board Members supported the community in a 4-1 decision that rejected the fluoride proposal. The 600 members of the community are now safe from fluoridated water, along with some 300 citizens of the neighboring town of Lily Dale who share Cassadaga’s water supply.
