Please Don't get a "Flu Shot"

“The fluoride/aluminum association is of particular importance as it relates to Alzheimer's Disease. Aluminum by itself is not readily absorbed by the body. However, in the presence of fluoride ions, the fluoride ions combine with the aluminum...  http://www.mothering.com/community/t/1365637/please-dont-get-a-flu-shot

Events should help those uncertain about fluoridation

The latest SurveyUSA poll regarding Wichita’s water fluoridation ballot vote found the proponents’ side still leading but uncertainty growing. In the poll of 549 likely voters last week, 47 percent said they planned to vote “yes,” compared with 35 percent who said they’d vote “no” and 18 percent who weren’t certain how they’d vote. In late September’s poll, also sponsored by KWCH, Channel 12, 46 percent were “yes” voters, with 40 percent planning to vote “no” and 14 percent undecided. In August, 62 percent of Wichitans polled said they would vote for adding fluoride, with 31 percent against and 7 percent undecided. Those looking for more debate on the issue will get it this week, when the Sedgwick County Commission hears from speakers at its Wednesday meeting and KPTS, Channel 8, airs a debate from 8 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The League of Women Voters also will hold a forum on fluoridation at noon Oct. 23 at the Central Library.

Oct. 14, 1964: Water fluoridation plebiscite defeated in civic election (Canada)

For the fourth time in seven years, a water fluoridation plebiscite was defeated in Edmonton’s civic election.

The plebiscite’s failure was blamed on Mayor William Hawrelak and influential aldermen. “If the mayor and the leading vote-getters on council had actively supported fluoridation, it would have passed,” lamented Dr. R.E. Jespersen of the Edmonton Academy of Medicine. Adding traces of fluoride reduces or prevents tooth decay, and does not affect the smell, taste or appearance of drinking water.

Support for the issue failed the required 66-2/3-per-cent majority by just one per cent. Final tabulation was 65.04 per cent, the highest to date.

Jespersen said the plebiscite showed that “no matter what proof you give some voters and no matter how good the authority, they’ll listen to people who don’t know what they’re talking about.”

Dr. G.H. Ball, city medical health officer, criticized what he termed “the frightening propoganda” used by anti-fluoridationists during the campaign. A lot of well-meaning people were scared into voting against fluoridation, he said.

Ball said the provincial government must accept some of the responsibility for keeping fluoridation from Edmonton.

The fluoridation issue was also defeated in Wainright and Vegreville, but passed in Whitecourt.
Edmonton (Canada) has treated its water with fluoride since 1966, after residents finally voted to do so in a plebiscite [but have now voted it out]. Epcor adds 0.8 parts of fluoride per one million parts of water.

Today, about 40 per cent of Canadians receive fluoridated water.
